Poetry

Disconnect from Desire
by Eamon Kroetsch

I'm through with the etiquette
through with thinking
of the shards of heart
cracked like glass
through with worrying
about whether I hurt
or not
you, as I refuse you
and us
the past a blueprint
for failure
a struggle
through truths fragmented
and bent
That hot summer
when you fell out of love
with me
and fell into the next
my inadequacies now strengths
and freedom fits fine
I fumble with maitri
but laugh and love
friends and music
sing to the moon
one cold night
and my dream of you
will be frozen
carried by the winds
and when the healing comes
it will be love that
thaws the heart.
